When to call all-in
It's the words that turns heads around a poker table and leaves an individual with the
biggest possible decision in a game, whether you call the all-in bet or not.
If you have nuts the decision may be an easy one, you will call with a big smile on your
face. Likewise, if you have nothing more than a high card after the flop, or two small cards
pre-flop, you muck your cards as quickly as you can.
However poker isn't always that simple. If you do have a decent hand, you need to take a good
length of time to think about the possibility of putting in all your chips or a large chunk of them.
There will be many questions spinning around your head. The most important one being
do I have the best hand here?
In Texas Holdem online, a lot of all-in bets will be made in an attempt to bluff a pot so you have
to try and identify which ones hold genuine hands. If you can spot a bluff, it makes the call
an easy one to make.
Some players will happily push their chips in pre-flop. Any kind of pocket pair or two high cards
are the hands that you can expect an "all-in" bet from. If a player gets down to low stack they
will be looking for a call in the hope of doubling up. They don't mind if they are up against a
coin flip situation because they know they have a fair chance of holding up.
If you genuinely believe you have the best hand you need to show some bravery and make
the call. Don't let the size of the bet affect your judgement.
